Trinity Lutheran Music Ministry

Trinity Lutheran's Music Ministry seeks to proclaim the living voice of the Gospel in beauty and holiness. As Lutherans, we believe that music and the Word of God are intimately connected. Music fully participates in the proclamation of the Word as it faithfully reflects in its own terms the honesty, integrity, truthfulness, and beauty of the Gospel. We view music as God's creation and gift. Our Music Ministry provides several opportunities for participation. First and foremost, we all participate together in the church's song during worship. Congregational song is a vital ingredient in our worship together. Our faith erupts in song! Additional opportunities are available in one of our various specialized ensembles.

Instrumentalists

With numerous talented instrumental musicians, we provide opportunities for all to praise God in worship on a regular basis. Members are provided venues to share their instrumental talents in a myriad of ways, through providing preludes and musical offerings and accompanying the song of the community. Solo, small ensemble, and large ensemble possibilities exist for musicians of all ages and abilities in the community.

Special Projects / Festival Music Workshop

Festival of Lessons and Carols is a celebration in worship during the season of Advent, usually held on the third Sunday of Advent. The festival is a simple service that weaves together scripture and song. Matching time-honored lessons with carols, it carries us from prophecy to fulfillment, from Old Testament foretelling to the arrival of the Prince of Peace. Through these windows and words of the Bible we see the development of the loving purposes of God.

Cantor

"Cantor" is an ancient term that has come to have multiple meanings, including "leader of the people's song." Cantors historically have proclaimed the Word of God most especially in psalmody, and in our context provide opportunities for people to participate in the dialogue of Liturgy - the "work of the People of God." Cantors are selected for their leadership skills, their musical ability, and their desire to proclaim God's word in the midst of the people gathered. Cantors receive formation in the skills necessary to carry out their ministry. The Cantor information page which includes the schedule and materials is available here.

Bach Cantatas

We celebrate the heritage of Lutheran music through the works of composer Johann Sebastian Bach, by joining with other Lutherans in the Lawrence community to sing major choral works as a part of our community's worship.
