The Caring Ministry
Serving the needs of the TLC Family.
The Caring Ministry encourages us to put faith into action through gestures of compassion and concern for the needs of those within the TLC family. The committee assesses needs, develops programs to help, and coordinates volunteers. God’s work. Our hands. Our programs include: cards, home communion, hospital visits, flowers, meals, once a month Communion with coffee fellowship at the church, rosebuds for newborns; handmade prayer shawls for those who are sick, have suffered a loss or are in a crisis, and Stephen ministers.
Prayer Shawl Ministry meets third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Please contact the church office for location as it rotates in members' homes.
Communion Coffee meets the second Monday of the month at 10 a.m. in the chapel. This is for those who find a full worship service too taxing. It is followed by a fellowship time with refreshments and great conversation in the fellowship hall.

The Congregation Council has general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation, and in particular its worship life, to the end that everything be done in accordance with the Word of God and the faith and practice of the ELCA.
Four Council members are elected at each annual congregational meeting, and serve three-year terms.

Serving the outside community.
Global Concerns helps the congregation to be aware of Christian issues outside of our community and provides opportunities to express our faith on behalf of those who suffer from hunger, poverty and injustice. We encourage participation in ELCA World Hunger Appeal, Lutheran World Relief and Bread for the World.

Trinity Social Concerns supports many other non-profits and outreach projects in the Lawrence community. We are a covenant congregation for Habitat for Humanity, participating in its Building on Faith projects; a host congregation for Family Promise, and a partner in the Trinity Interfaith Food Pantry by collecting non-perishables. We provide and serve lunch at the Lawrence Interfaith Nutritional Kitchen on the second Tuesday every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November). We support a school supply drive each summer to benefit our neighborhood school, New York Elementary, and provide scarves, hats and gloves to students in need through the district in winter.
A Thanksgiving tradition has been to deliver all of the supplies for a Thanksgiving meal for those families in need referred to us through a school social worker. We also administer funds for the Turn It On! program which, in conjunction with area social service agencies, helps reconnect utilities for those in need.
The group generally meets the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

All men of Trinity are welcome to gather for food, fellowship, interesting speakers and service opportunitites. There is the Men's Fellowship Breakfast on the first Saturday of the month at 8:30 a.m. In addition to a home-cooked breakfast, there is usually a topic of interest presented by a member of the Lawrence community.
Lively conversation is also on the menu when the Men's Night Out Group visits local restaurants on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Check with the church office for location each month as this rotates among different places and cuisines.
Traditionally the men's groups have spearheaded arrangements for the annual Corn Fest.
